The Ghana Association of Social Workers was formed in or about the year 1971 by a few renowned Social Workers with a view of approaching their profession with a sense of vocation and dedication. They believed that it is through the Association that Social Workers can achieve recognition as professionals in the service of the nation. Today the membership of GASOW stands around four hundred (400) and still counting.

Our work as Social workers is geared at bringing about positive social change, the solution of problems emanating from human relationships, liberation and empowerment of the poor, vulnerable, excluded and disadvantaged. We do this by applying time tested methods and skills acquired through appropriate training and experience, guided by a code of ethics and the principles of Human Rights and Social Justice.    

Finally, this site will afford you the opportunity to know about current and future events of GASOW and its partner organizations, Register as a Member of the Association from any part of the globe, donate to the Association by completing a donation form.
